Prairie Material, a large Midwest producer, with a large market share of the Chicago ready mix concrete market, experienced an operation stalling bin failure. The aggregate bin sidewalls had deteriorated to the point that they crumbled under their own weight, pushing the support columns up through the bottom of the bin. The failure caused the bin to sink and fall to one side, resting on his building enclosure. The building enclosure alone was the only thing preventing the entire aggregate bin from crashing to the ground. Our team was on-site within hours to evaluate the situation and formulate a game plan to mitigate the risk and get our customer back up and running as soon as possible.
An already dangerous and difficult project was further complicated when we learned that due to permitting issues the city would not allow us to remove the roof of the building to facilitate the dismantling and re-installation process.
Every sector of our operation from engineering, to manufacturing, to field services, were able to work together diligently and expeditiously to provide the ultimate Treyco experience: doing “whatever it takes” to get the job done, and done right.
